Awards

 

This year, MISfN will provide a Founders Award for outstanding research to one graduate student as well as poster awards for postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduate students. The quality of posters and poster presentations will be judged based on a 5-point rubric that was developed by Dr. Michael Sandstrom. Poster presenters who would like more information on scoring rules and procedures should contact Dr. Michael Sandstrom for more details. Deadline for all abstract and paper submissions is Friday, April 24th, 2009

 


 

Founders Award Paper Competition

Master’s/Doctoral Students

 

This award is in honor of Montford F Piercey and Duncan McCarthy for their contributions in organizing and maintaining our chapter.

 

The prize for the Founders Award is $500. Entrants are required to submit a regular abstract as first author and to also submit a comprehensive paper. Two reference letters, one of which must be from the entrant's own advisor, are also required. The winner of the award will present a 20 minute slide presentation during the meeting. Poster Competition – Graduate Students

Two awards of $200.00 each are given. Entrants are required to submit a regular abstract as first author. Posters will be judged at the conference, during the poster session.

 

Poster Competition – Undergraduate Students

Two awards of $200.00 will be given. Entry rules are the same as the Poster Competition for Graduate Students.

 

Poster Competition – Postdoctoral/Research Associate

One award of $200.00 will be given. Postdoctoral trainees, research associates, laboratory technicians and non-tenure track faculty members are eligible to compete.
